A day in the life and home of a child in an informal settlement Hi my name is Jeffery I live in an informal settlement and I will tell you how it is in an informal settlement. So I woke up the one morning so tired because I have to wake up super early. I wake up early because I have to walk to school every morning. We don’t have cars we can’t afford it so I wake up an hour early it is not fun. I am so tired I can’t focus and the worst part is that there are almost 60 of us in one class. We don’t have a lot of teachers at our school because for every 60 children we get one teacher. But some don’t even have pencil cases to work with. Once I got back from a long walk I had to start my homework. I have to do my homework quickly because it gets dark fast and we don’t have electricity. We don’t have electricity because we save for the fireproof houses. At super we don’t have that much to eat so we can’t fill up fully. At night when I go to the bathroom there is a stall right outside but
